Description
To date local governments have worked with farm families to permanently protect nearly 2,400 acres in Tompkins County through use of Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) programs. This protected farmland honors the legacy of past generations and ensures that high quality farmland will remain available now and into the future. Please come to this panel discussion to learn how New York State’s PDR program works in Tompkins County, and to understand what this program can mean to diverse local farms and their communities.
Hosted by the Finger Lakes Land Trust and the Tompkins County Planning Department, speakers will include Elizabeth Newbold of the Land Trust, Scott Doyle of Tompkins County Planning, and local farmers who have protected their land.
