First Fridays in the Field—Volunteer with Us on August 3
Join Land Trust staff and volunteers on the first Friday of every month, from May through October, for nature preserve management activities and socializing. Help is needed with a variety of trail building, maintenance, clean-up, and more. Work sessions will be held from 2:00-4:30 pm, followed by a social hour from 4:30-5:30. Join us Friday, August 3 at the Bahar Nature Preserve in Cayuga County.

Video: Sandhill Cranes on the Move at Owasco Flats Near Moravia, NY
Until recently, Sandhill Cranes were quite rare in the region but they’re now breeding at sites such as the Montezuma Wetlands and are occasionally seen in large wetlands and fields of grain. At the Owasco Flats, the Land Trust has partnered with the Owasco Flats Nature Reserve and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation to conserve four parcels of habitat for the cranes as well as other wildlife, including resident Bald Eagles.
