DESCRIPTION
Bring a lawn chair, a head lamp, warm clothes, and a camera. Several lights will be set up for moth and other insect observation, and we will discuss the identification and natural history of the species that come in. Jason Dombroskie, Manager of the Cornell University Insect Collection and Coordinator of the Insect Diagnostic Lab, will lead this event. Jason has over 30 years of experience mothing and has many years of experience leading interpretive talks and walks on natural history.
DIRECTIONS
From Ithaca, take Route 34/East Shore Drive approximately five miles to the intersection with Route 34B in Lansing. Turn left onto Route 34B/Ridge Road, and after approximately 8 miles, veer left onto Lake Ridge Road. After less than one mile, turn left on Nut Ridge Road. Drive to the end of the road—approximately one mile—turn around and park along the south side of the road. (Do not turn right into the private drive.) We will gather at the trailhead.
POLICIES
Except in the case of extreme weather, walks go on rain or shine. Please check this web page for updates.
Please refrain from bringing dogs as they may impede the observation of wildlife.
