Carolabarb Park’s mix of fields and forested ravines protects wildlife habitat and beautiful lake views.
Natural History
Carolabarb Park adjoins the scenic overlook previously created by the town of South Bristol on County Route 12. The park, once a vineyard, now protects a panoramic view of Canandaigua Lake’s rugged southern end and eastern shore, with unobstructed views of Bare Hill, South Hill and the Land Trust’s Great Hill Nature Preserve.

The park’s mix of fields and forested ravines also protects wildlife habitat. In fact, Bald Eagles are known to soar over the property. The land’s proximity to the state-owned High Tor Wildlife Management Area enhances its conservation value and its protection adds to the growing mosaic of undeveloped lands in Canandaigua Lake’s watershed.
Recent History
The Land Trust accepted a conservation easement on Carolabarb’s scenic 38 acres in 2004 from the late Odell Scott, who simultaneously donated the land to the town of South Bristol for use as a public park. Carolabarb Park is named after both Carol Holcomb Scott, Scott’s first wife of 55 years who passed away in 1992, and Barbara Hawkins Scott, his second wife.
