Join us for one event, or attend all and hike 30 miles for 30 years! You can also complete the hike series on your own. DESCRIPTION
Executive Director Andy Zepp will lead participants on a 2.3-mile hike through these two preserves which provide excellent examples of the area’s geologic history and ecological systems. Here, multiple waterfalls splash down along Lick Brook on its journey to Cayuga Lake, including one that is nearly 140 feet tall. Andy will discuss the history of the preserve and the Land Trust’s role in acquiring it, as well as its geology, flora, and fauna. This walk will involve some limited steep climbs.
DIRECTIONS
From Ithaca follow Rt. 13 south to just past Buttermilk Falls State Park. Turn left on Sandbank Road. At Y intersection bear right on Town Line Road. Park immediately on right side of the road (before the bridge). Sweedler Preserve is to the right, Thayer Preserve to the left.
