Board Candidate Bios
Adam Boyko (1st 3-year term), Ithaca, NY – Adam Boyko is an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. He is also a co-founder of Embark, a canine genomics and biotechnology company. Adam lives in Ithaca with his wife, Kelly, and also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Morris Animal Foundation.
Elizabeth Dann (2nd 3-year term), Corning, NY – Beth recently retired from Corning Incorporated, where she served as Director of Corporate Communications. Prior to her career at Corning, Beth worked in the museum field as Director of the Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport and Educator at the Rockwell Museum in Corning. She also served as an educator in the Corning School District. Beth lives in Corning with her husband Matthew and currently serves on the collections committee of The Rockwell Museum. She previously served on the boards of The Alternative School for Math & Science, The Rockwell Museum (President), the American Red Cross, and the Corning-Painted Post Historical Society.
David Fernandez (2nd 3-year term), Ithaca, NY – David is the owner of Cayuga Landscape, an Ithaca-based landscape design and construction company that also operates a retail garden center. He has served on the boards of Cornell Botanic Gardens, the Sciencenter, and is a former president of the board for the Ithaca Montessori School. David lives in Ithaca with his wife, Elizabeth.
Maria Fernandez-Gaige (2nd 3-year term), Mecklenburg, NY – Maria holds the position of Corporate Counsel for XGen Pharmaceuticals, DJB, Inc. in Alpine. She lives in Mecklenburg where her husband operates a dairy farm.
Hadley Lundback (3rd 3-year term), Rochester, NY – Hadley is a partner at Faraci Lange, LLP, in Rochester where she focuses on personal injury with a concentration in environmental, medical device and pharmaceutical toxic torts, consumer protection, and medical malpractice litigation. She is on the board of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers and Public Justice and lives in Rochester with her two kids.
Ed McGraw (1st 3-year term), Skaneateles, NY – Ed is a founding partner and partner emeritus of the Syracuse-based architectural firm of Ashley McGraw Architects, D.P.C. He is a nationally recognized authority on sustainability and high-performance, energy-efficient buildings, and a regenerative practitioner. Ed and his wife, Charlene, live in Skaneateles.
Wade Sarkis (2nd 3-year term), Canandaigua, NY – Wade is the owner and managing principal of Canandaigua Financial Group. He is a former president of the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association and is still active on their board. He is also vice-chair and treasurer of the F.F. Thompson Foundation, Inc. Wade lives in South Bristol with his wife, Joscelyne.
Jan Suwinski (2nd 3-year term), Ithaca, NY – Jan is a retired Emeritus Professor of Business Operations at Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and former Executive Vice President at Corning, Inc. He and his wife, Susan, are the owners of Sheffield Farm in Ithaca.
Jim Walsh (2nd 3-year term), Marietta, NY – Jim served as U.S. Congressman for the Syracuse area from 1989 through 2009 and held a seat on the House Appropriations Committee. During his tenure, he represented all or part of Onondaga, Cayuga, Monroe, Wayne, Tioga, Broome, Cortland, Madison, and Oneida counties. He has served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations including 10 years for the U.S. Soccer Foundation. He and his wife DeDe live on Otisco Lake.
Suan Hsi Yong (1st 3-year term), Ithaca, NY – Originally from Penang, Malaysia, Suan worked as a software scientist for the Ithaca-based company GrammaTech for the last 17 years. Suan lives in Ithaca where he currently serves as a director of the Cayuga Bird Club; leads walks for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Cornell Cooperative Extension’s youth birding program; and holds the roles of president of the Ithaca Concert Band and secretary for the Ithaca Community Orchestra.
